On Wednesday, December 3rdThe American Readers Theatre in collaboration with the Delaware Valley School District presented an evening of music by Sir Noel Coward as part of a grant sponsored by the Noel Coward Foundation. The performance took place at the DVHS auditorium. The concert was performed by the members of the Noel Coward Project which was an after-school musical theatre workshop under the direction of ART founder Jeffrey Stocker and with musical direction by Sandy Stalter.
The Noel Coward Foundation is based in London and awarded the DVSD its first grant to a United States Public High School. Seven very talented young singers from the ages of 16-18 auditioned to be accepted into the workshop and over the course of 10 weekends had the opportunity to meet professionals from NYC which included the Tony Award winning casting director Geoffrey Johnson.
The Workshop concluded on December 16, 2008 with a trip to NYC where the members performed their songs at the historic National Arts Club at the annual Noel Coward Birthday Celebration. The cast members for these performances included: Dionna Eshleman, Morgane Fouse, Natasha Green, Taylor James, Kurt Merrill, Timothy Webster, and Jaime Wright. Matthew Tidridge recorded the entire workshop digitally in order to provide a copy to the Noel Coward Foundation.
